Moses married Maedella Richardson. They were the parents of seven children. Maedella was also a Memeber of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She loved to cook , raise chickens , and canning fruits and veggies. She loved to drink pepsi and coke.

Lumas
The Godwin Family Reunion was first held at the home of Lumas and Lou addie Holt in the early 1950's. Lumas felt we should celebrate grandfather's birthday in August; and we did under the tobacco barn shelter.

With seven kids of their own, it looked like Moses, Maedella and the kids were a family reunion to themselves. Any how, from those simple beginnings, the family reunion got larger and larger every year as the family size increased and more and more kinfolks joined to celebrate our family-ties.

In our time, it has gotten to the point where a different family steps up to the plate, so to speak, each year to be hosts for another reunion. Past hosts were Hazel Godwin and her family, Martha Holt-Dunston and her family, Geraldine Godwin, Faye and her siblings, the late Narcissus Whitley, and the late Emma Pace and her family. We all are greatful for the hard work that is put in to have a successful family reunion.

We are looking forward to a great time meeting with you again, sharing food, catching up, and having fun together. Family is very important. You will always have your families. You will not always have the other people. Tragically, the breakdown in the family is prevalent everywhere. Lets do our part to keep ours together, always, and make a positive contribution to our society. Remember, the family that prays together stays together; we all need to go back to that. Some families are straying away from the old mark. When we as people stray away from God's agenda, we set ourselves up to fail. One of the greatest commandments... to love your neighbor as yourself. God bless.
